The contents include: rise of the Ottoman Empire from 1250-1520; the culmination of power under Suleiman and the beginning of the decline 1520-1699; the decline of the empire 1703-1792; and modern Turkey, 1792-1928. Much of the modern Turkey section is focused on the years during and preceding World War I. The Balkan States history focuses almost exclusively upon those nations during and after WWI. "The Balkan Problem 1453-1914" begins this history. Each chapter subsequently focuses on a state during and after the war."
