The descendants of Ludwig Zehrung, Mathias Zehrung, Anna Elizabeth Zehrung and Philip Zehring [Zehrung]

Ludwig Zehrung (1739-1801) of Fayette Co., Pa. was born in Bach, Germany to Johannes Zehrung and Anna Maria Crumm. He married Catherine-Gertrude von Feilgers (1741-1821). Mathias Zehrung (Zehring) (1745-1817) of Shenandoah Co., Va. was born at Bad Marienberg, Germany as Johann Theis Zehrung (Theis being a German varient for Mathias) to Johannes Zehrung and Anna Maria Uhr. Anna Elizabeth Zehrung (b. 1749), daughter of Johannes Zehrung and Anna Maria Uhr, was born at Pfuhl, Germany. In 1766, at Lebanon, in what is now Lebanon Co., Pa., she married Johann Leonhardt Kirstaetter (known as Leonard) (d. 1790), the son of Johann Martin Kirstaetter and Magdalena Kuckenberger. Most descendants in this book are those of Philip Zehring or Zehrung of Oldham Co., Kentucky. Philip was the son of Johannes and probably his second wife, Anna Maria Uhr. He died ca. 1812/13. He married Anna Catharina Zeller, daughter of Johannes Zeller and Maria Catharina Lauer. The Kentucky branch of the family uses the spelling Zaring for their surname in spite of the fact that they are all descendants of Philip Zehring; Illinois branch uses Zearing; Virginia and Ohio branches use Zehring.
