Captain Miles Standish (1586-1656) of the Mayflower was one of the leading men of the Plymouth Colony. He died at Duxbury, Massachusetts. Record traces line of descent through his son, Alexander Standish (ca. 1625-1702) of Duxbury, to Rose Ellen Standish Treiber. She was born at Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Isaac Brown Standish (1815-1875). Her father purchased a farm in Watervliet, Michigan in 1864 and moved his family there. She attended college at Olivet, Michigan and received a B.S. degree in 1885. She married Daniel John Treiber at Olivet in 1887. They went to Hawaii as missionaries, returning to the mainland in 1889. They had seven children, 1888-1899, born in Hawaii, Michigan, South Dakota and Kansas. Includes Treiber, Dunway, Huyser and other descendants. .
