Multi-millionaire Malcolm Pembroke is a serious spender of money, mostly on racehorses and wives. Such profligacy concerns Pembroke's children and family relationships are strained. However, when Moira, wife number five, is brutally murdered, it is to his estranged son Ian that Pembroke turns for help. Ian may not agree with his extravagant father's financial decisions, but he does defend the millionaire's right to do as he wishes with his own fortune, and so together father and son look for the killer before he strikes again.
