A dream within a dream
In Covington, Kentucky, 1943, Vice-Mayor Carl Kiger and his six-year-old son, Jerry, are shot and killed, and Kiger's wife, Jennie, is critically wounded. The couple's fifteen-year-old daughter, Joan, emerges unharmed, and is subsequently arrested for the murders. Later, theories concerning the involvement of the mafia, city officials, and local attorneys begin to surface.
