"The increasing importance and pervasiveness of simulation are due to several factors including cost and time savings that can be realized in system design and training, the ability to reproduce and examine situations that would be unsafe using actual equipment, the control and measurement of human-machine performance in a benign environment, and the capability to investigate conditions that would be impractical to arrange otherwise.
