"A copy of the Rule of St. Benedict with accompanying spiritual works, almost certainly made for a female Benedictine community in the late 13th century. The vows of a 15th-century nun, Claude de Grilly, are pasted onto fol. 25r; she belonged to the Abbey of Sainte-Glossinde, the Benedictine nunnery of Metz. Codex contains: 1. the Rule of St. Benedict in French (Lorrain dialect), from 1r to 30v -- 2. A spiritual work that Meyer, in his 1884 study of this manuscript, calls Li livres des tribulations, running from 30v to 55v -- 3. A poem called the Chanson d'amors de pure povreteit, from 55v to 56v, which Meyer transcribed in his study, positing a Franciscan origin for this text -- 4. A short treatise on the spiritual comfort of God, and on pride and humility, running from 56v to 58r -- 5. Another short treatise on the ways in which the body, the heart, and the soul are to render thanks to God, at 58r -- 6. A short tract on the Ten Commandments, written in a different hand from the rest of the codex, possibly early 14th-century, at 58r-59r."
