Personal correspondence consists of letters from Soubie's cousins Charles G., A.C., and Lewis Parker of England concerning school affairs and the activities and health of family members; a letter from J.C. Labarte, writing from France, reporting on the school progress of Soubie's son, who was evidently being educated there; a lengthy letter, dated 1831, from Medelice Thomas describing a stormy sea journey to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the extensive damage and loss of life caused by a hurricane; and a letter from P.E. Soubie, Armand Soubie's brother, that provides an account of a cholera outbreak in Terre aux Boeufs in St. Bernard Parish, La. Numerous business letters in both French and English from shipping firms concern shipments of gun merchandise. Also included with the correspondence are 43 maritime bills of lading for guns and gun equipment shipped from English and French ports. The accompanying journal contains entries from 1846-1849 for gun merchandise delivered by ships from Europe and accounts of sales."
