  • "Mystery novel featuring 19th century Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, her dashing husband Emerson, and their appallingly precocious son Ramses. En route to a promising dig site in the Sudan, the Peabody's are drawn into the search for an African explorer and his bride, missing for twelve years."@en
  • "The mysterious desert of Egypt and Sudan is the setting for this late 1890's tale of a search for a lost traveller. The searchers are Amelia Peabody, her archaeologist husband, and their precocious son Ramses. The perils of the desert challenge them but they are determined not to be outdone."
  • "The latest of the Amelia Peabody mysteries. How Amelia's eccentric little family gets from the relative calm of Victorian England to a lost kingdom buried deep in the heart of the Sudan is a story you won't want to miss."@en
  • "The last camel is dead, and Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, her dashing husband, Emerson, and precocious son, Ramses, are in dire straits on the sun-scorched desert sands. Months before, back in cool, green England, Viscount Blacktower had approached them to find his son and his son's new bride, who have been missing in war-torn Sudan for over a decade. An enigmatic message scrawled on papyrus and a cryptic map had been delivered to Blacktower, awakening his hope that the couple was still alive. Neither Amelia nor Emerson believes the message is authentic, but the treasure map proves an irresistible temptation. Now, deep in Nubia's vast wasteland, they discover too late how much treachery is afoot (and on camelback) . . . and survival depends on Amelia's solving a mystery as old as ancient Egypt and as timeless as greed and revenge."
  • "The undauntable Amelia Peabody, her irrepressable husband Emerson and their forbiddingly precocious son Ramsos were pleasantly discussing their next Egyptian expedition when a rather bulky, white faced young man burst into the drawing room and promptly collapsed at Amelia's feet. How Amelia's eccentric little family gets from the calm of Victorian England to a lost kingdom buried deep in the heart of the Sudan, is a perilous, humorous and always entertaining adventure."@en
  • "The gentleman came bearing a particularly chilling story. It seems that 14 years before, Forthright's uncle had disappeared into the Nubian desert along with his beautiful child-bride, never to return. Now a mysterious letter from an unknown source has convinced Forthright's disconsolate grandfather that his son and daughter-in-law are still alive. In spite of Forthright's protests to the contrary, the senior Willoughby is intent on pursuading the two archaeologists to find them."@en
