When the airplane crashes, Killing the pilot and injuring Kavik, the dog is found and nursed back to health by 12-year old-Andy. When the industrialist finds the dog and takes him to Washington, Kavik instinctively travels two thousand miles from Washington to Alaska to return to the boy who saved his life.
