http://schema.org/description

  • "Correspondence, card files, financial papers, articles, speeches, pamphlets, leaflets, scrapbooks, clippings, photos, tapes, and a film depict aspects of Rankin's life. Best documented is her vote against U.S. entry into WWII and the consequent public reaction, though both terms in congress are covered. Other correspondence reflects her involvement in the suffrage movement, Vietnam War protest, election reform, and the women's movement, with information on the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Jeannette Rankin Brigade, also called the Jeannette Rankin Rank and File. Clippings comprised over half of the collection; most were about Rankin, with a few by her. Family correspondence includes letters from her sisters Mary (Rankin) Bragg, Grace (Rankin) Kinney, and birth control advocate Edna (Rankin) McKinnon. There are almost no personal letters by Rankin in the collection, and no early papers by or about her."
