Chemical characteristics of selected rivers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick during 1983

The chemical characteristics of ten New Brunswick and Nova Scotiarivers which drain to the Bay of Fundy were measured on twooccasions during 1983. Hatchery-reared juvenile salmon have beenreleased in three of the rivers and the other seven areconsidered as possible sites for salmon enhancement programs. The chemical characteristics of the various river systems shownin this report can be examined to (1) determine theirsensitivity to acid precipitation, (2) facilitate the planning ofsalmon enhancement programs and (3) enable the selection ofsuitable release sites for hatchery-reared juveniles.
