Re-balancing the rebalance : resourcing U.S. diplomatic strategy in the Asia-Pacific region : a majority staff report prepared for the use of the Committee on Foreign Relations, United States Senate, One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, second session, April 17, 2014
This report by the majority staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee examines the progress made on the non-military elements of the Obama administration's policy to pursue a strategic rebalance towards the Asia-Pacific region. As this report finds, despite progress in some areas, implementation of the rebalance thus far has been uneven, which creates the risk that the rebalance may well end up as less than the sum of its parts. This report provides additional insight and perspective on the rebalance, and recommendations on how to properly resource and implement the rebalance to meet its strategic goals of enhancing prosperity, security, democratic values and human development in the Asia-Pacific region.
