  • "All of the papers are related to Ford family genealogy. Except for a set of approximately 200 genealogy sheets compiled by Raymond Laird for Henry Ford, the documents are photocopies of material collected by Harriet Steinke. Ms. Steinke was Laird's niece. The genealogy sheets cover the descendants of William Ford, 1775-1818, and Rebecca Jennings Ford, 1776-1851. It is thought that Laird compiled the data between 1934 and 1938. Photocopied items are primarily concerned with William S. Ford, and his son John. (Note: this is not the William Ford who was the father of Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company. William S. Ford was a double first cousin to Henry's father.) Items in the collection include property tax receipts, correspondence regarding estate matters, a William S. Ford and Ann Ford 50th wedding invitation, a William S. Ford obituary, and a few family photographs. There is also a booklet entitled "Carriages of Two Centuries" with drawings of carriages from the Edison Institute (now The Henry Ford) that participated in a 1924 parade in Dearborn, Michigan, and an album of postcards collected by Ann Ford."
