"Born into powerful Orleans family, Louis-Phillippe was brought up under the tuition of Madame de Genlis and reach young manhood full of liberal ideals just as the French revolution armies but soon found himself a penniless vagrant in Europe. After twenty-one years he returned th France and after the July riots of 1830 he accepted the throne. From then on his life was an unending struggle to keep some balance betwwen the violent fores of the Legitimist Right and the Republican Left."
