"Bound carbon copy typescript biography of Sidney Rigdon detailing his early life; conversion to Mormonism; life in Mormon communities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Missouri; and his work with, and estrangement from, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The 1,068-page work in two volumes was written by Whitsitt, "...in an effort to demonstrate from original documents and history, that Mormon theology and its church constitution were conceived and produced by Rigdon and not by Joseph Smith." The first volume contains a TL carbon from Whitsitt to Dr. Worthington Ford, Chief, Manuscripts Division of the Library of Congress in which the author states that he was unable financially to publish his work when he completed it in 1885, and asks that the typescript be held by the Library and made available to researchers. Each volume contains a three-page table of contents."
