An angel at my table based on the autobiographies of Janet Frame

Based on the 3 volumes of Janet Frame's autobiography. The first part of the film deals with her childhood in Oamaru, NZ, in the 1930s, when she showed the first symptoms of emotional insecurity that was to afflict her in later life. Part two is largely an account of her experiences in an institution to which she was committed after being, wrongly, diagnosed as schizophrenic. Part 3 deals with her life in London and Spain where she lived on a literary scholarship before returning, with a new confidence and hope, to New Zealand.
