Jacob Hamblin : a narrative of his personal experience as a frontiersman, missionary to the Indians, and explorer. Disclosing interpositions of providence, severe privations, perilous situations and remarkable escapes. Designed for the instruction and encouragement of young Latter-day Saints
"Jacob Hamblin was born at Salem, Ohio, in 1819. He migrated with his family to Geauga County, Ohio, as an infant; and to Spring Prairie, Wisconsin, in 1836. He married Lucinda Taylor in 1839. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1842 and migrated to Nauvoo, Illinois, and later west with the Mormon pioneers, arriving in Utah in 1850. He became a missionary to the Indians, their trusted friend; and an explorer. His family lived in Toole, and Santa Clara, Utah; Arizona, and New Mexico. [He died at Pleasanton, New Mexico.] The work chiefly tells of his experiences with the Indians, their customs, beliefs, etc."
