James Austin (1776-1831) and a cousin, John Earle, apparently decided they wanted to immigrated to Australia, but could not afford it. So they sold some beehives from a family friend, who conveniently lodged charges and prosecuted. They were transported in 1803 from Somerset to Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania), Australia for seven years' servitude. Family members immigrated from England to join them. Descendants and relatives lived in Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland and elsewhere.
