"A videotext (i.e., a paper + a video) presentation of the recent work of Percy Deift, Thomas Kriecherbauer, and Stephanos Venakides on forced lattice vibrations. "The basic idea is that technical information is transmitted most efficiently in mathematics when one mathematician explains his/her work to another mathematician one-to-one at a blackboard. In an attempt to simulate this experience for a larger audience, the authors chose a panel of eight mathematicians, and presented their work to them. The presentation/discussion was recorded on videocamera at the UC Berkeley Media Center during the workshop Dynamical Systems Methods Designed for PDEs, March 14-18 1994"--Insert in supplement."
