Sergt. Richard Haven, 1620-1703, Lynn, Mass., "King Philip's War" and one line of his descendants : a Haven line and some collateral branches

Ancestors and related families of the author, William Haven. He was born in 1845 at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the son of James Henderson Haven (1808-1849) and Elizabeth Salter Cushman Haven (1817-1903). He married Caroline Maria Merwin in 1883 at New Haven, Connecticut. They had five children, 1884-1893, born at Buffalo and Syracuse, New York; Omaha, Nebraska; and St. Joseph, Missouri. He was retired in 1927 and living at Detroit, Michigan. One of his sons died as an infant and another was died of pneumonia in Germany in 1919 while serving in the army of occupation. The other children were living in Michigan and Oklahoma in 1927. Caroline Maria Merwin was born in 1859 at East Granby, Connecticut, daughter of Henry Merwin (1814-1866) and Julia Matilda Holcomb Merwin (1817-1894). She died in 1917 at Ottumwa, Iowa. Noted librarian Charles Ammi Cutter (1837-1903) is counted among family members. Ancestors and relatives lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Kansas, California, Washington, Canada and elsewhere.
