These papers, consisting of 76 items, are mainly of correspondence, much of which pertains to material for Lee's MEMOIRS OF THE WAR IN THE SOUTHERN DEPARTMENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Some of the letters comment on trade, taxation, as well as family matters. Included are various letters written by Lee, 1813-1816, while he was in the West Indies attempting to regain his health.
