Letters, diaries, some financial and business papers, as well as James B. Walker's research notes on a variety of subjects, including the Tasmanian aborigines, and early history of Tasmania. As well there are papers of the family of George Washington Walker and his wife Sarah Benson Walker née Mather, and papers of their children. Of these, the papers of the eldest son, James Backhouse Walker and their daughters, Sarah Thompson Walker and Mary Augusta Walker are of particular interest.
