Jacob Houser (ca.1771-1847) was the eldest son of Abraham Houser Sr. and Nancy Rhorer, and of German lineage. He was born near Hagers- town, Maryland, and married widow Mary (Phillips) Hoover about 1791 (she had one daughter, Susan). They later moved to Kentucky, and still later to Spencer County, Tennessee. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and elsewhere.
