  • "This collection consists of letters from Inman of New York City to his partner, C. G. Childs of Philadelphia, engraver, editor, publisher and pioneer commercial lithographer. The letters mostly concern Inman's artistic contribution to Child's lithographic business from 1828 to 1845, especially 1830-1833, when the two were formally associated in the lithographic firm, Childs, and Inman. There is much discussion of sketches, drawings, portraits, engravings and lithographs. There is also some discussion of Inman's personal and professional affairs as well as those of other artists and lithographers in the New York and Philadelphia areas."
