  • "This collection consists of a photocopy of Elizabeth Tuckwiller Peck's Master of Arts thesis, black & white photographs and a cassette tape. The study for her thesis began in February 1971. Peck was studying the nature of the Quileute music and its evolution. Since it was found that Quileute Indian song is important prinicipally in its relationship to exclusive family use, Peck resolved to develop an understanding of the power of family song from a Quileute point of view and to put the findings into a form that may be useful to Native Americans and non-Native Americans. Eighteen Quileute family songs were placed in geographical, social, and my spiritual context. These songs represent a sampling of 42 songs belonging to the prominent Penn family of the upper Bogachiel River. The songs were sung for tape recordings by the present owner, Mrs. Leila Penn Fisher, Hoh Village, Hoh Indian Reservation, Jefferson County, WA."
