Er war bekannt als Unterstützer der Harlem Renaissance und als Verwalter des literarischen Nachlasses der Schriftstellerin, Verlegerin und Kunstmäzenin Gertrude Stein.Der kanadische Künstler und Illustrator Maurice Vellekoop zeichnet u.a. für die 'Vogue', die 'New York Times' und Drawn Quarterly, dem Verlag, der auch seine Bücher herausgibt. Charakteristisch für seine Arbeiten sind seine witzig dekadenten Szenarien und die ironische Eleganz seines eigenwilligen Stils.Der Herausgeber Armin Abmeier, geboren 1940 in Göttingen, arbeitete als Buchhändler und in der Verlagswerbung, danach über 20 Jahre als Verlagsvertreter für literarische Kunstbuchverlage. Er ist Viel-Leser und Sammler (Erstausgaben, Bilderbücher, Comics), seit 1991 Herausgeber illustrierter Bücher, vor allem der Tollen Hefte."
