This collection of selected papers is chiefly correspondence between members of the Boyle family or with outsiders. The writers were the following (or their descendants and relatives): Richard Boyle (1566-1643), first Earl of Cork; Roger Boyle (1621-1679), first Earl of Orrery; and John Boyle (d.1762), fifth Earl of Cork and Orrery. Most of the correspondence was between Boyle individuals (often a father and son), or between a Boyle and friends (such as Alexander Pope or Jonathan Swift). The appendix at the end of v. 2 includes family epitaphs, poetry, notes, etc.
