John Smith (1657-1699), eldest son of Quaker Richard Smith II, immi- grated in 1677 from England to Burlington, New Jersey, and was followed later by most of his surviving brothers. Daniel, Joseph and Emanuel arrived in 1691; Samuel came next in 1694; Richard Smith III arrived in 1699. John died during a trip back to England to bring Richard III back to Burlington. Descendants and relatives lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Ohio and elsewhere. Includes ancestors and some descendants in England.
