Gender and genealogy in the Old French Vulgate cycle

In my dissertation, I examine the way the Old French Vulgate cycle reflects the thirteenth-century reconsideration of gender roles within the aristocratic family. By linking the entire Vulgate cycle with its cultural context, I am able to offer a new evaluation of the role that this romance played in the evolution of its audience's cultural identity.
