Pech für Eddie, dass es sich dabei um seinen Wahnsinnigen Onkel Jack und seine Wahnsinnige Tante Maud handelt. Und dass ihr Haus 'Schlimmes Ende' heisst ... Über zwei Meter lang, ein buschiger Bart - Philip Ardagh ist nicht nur sehr gross und sehr haarig, sondern er hat auch mehr als 50 Bücher geschrieben für Kinder jeden Alters. Allerdings keines, das nur annähernd so wäre wie 'Schlimmes Ende'. Ardagh, der mit seiner Frau und zwei Katzen in einem kleinen Küstenort in England lebt, arbeitete u. a. als Werbetexter, als Reinigungskraft in einer Klinik, als (höchst untauglicher) Bibliothekar und als Vorleser für Blinde. Derzeit ist er Vollzeit-Schriftsteller. Seine Bücher, die er unter verschiedenen Namen veröffentlicht, wurden bislang in neun Sprachen übersetzt. 'Schlimmes Ende' wurde mit dem 'Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis' und mit dem 'LUCHS' ausgezeichnet, der von einer Jury der 'Zeit' und Radio Bremen verliehen wird."
