Greensboro Truth & Reconciliation Commission : seeking truth, working for reconciliation

On November 3, 1979 in Greensboro, N.C., long standing differences between groups of people in the communities exploded into violence. Ku Klux Klan and Nazi members were filmed shooting and killing five community and labor organizers and wounding ten others at a legally scheduled march and rally organized by the Communist Workers Party. The Klan and Nazi group members were twice acquitted by jury trial. Greensboro Truth & Reconciliation Commission was set up to compile and sort through many perspectives and to find a "collective truth" from which all can move forward. Includes welcome, outline of the Greensboro Truth & Reconciliation Commission, Greensboro's grassroots history, a description of what happened on November 3, 1979, The Commission's Mandate, the committee selection process, guiding principles, statements, findings, and international context, and brief biographies of the commission members and staff.
