A funny thing happened on the way to Hollywood

"Jack Paar and guests Judy Garland and Bob Newhart spoof the tinseled world of Hollywood, once described as 'a place where the inmates are in charge of the asylum.' Judy recalls her career as an M-G-M child star, and Bob does his monolog about a night watchman who discovers King Kong scaling the Empire State Building. Jack's monolog touches on Grauman's Chinese Theater, the Sidewalk of Stars, Hollywood social life, and his first movie role. Films include a Jimmy Cagney mayhem montage; bloopers; a scene dubbed in Japanese, German, and Italian; and an interview with California governor Ronald Reagan (whose replies have been clipped from his movies). Also, dialog clichés (including a love scene that appeared word for word in both a war movie and a western), Ginger Rogers singing in pig latin, and a take-off on the Busby Berkeley production numbers seen in lavish musicals of the thirties"--TV guide, May 14, 1967.
