The history of the Calverts who were Quakers

Genealogies of the Calvert, Hollingsworth, Harlan, and Chenoweth families originally of Ireland and Wales. John Calvert (1648-1699), son of Thomas Calvert and Jane Glassford, was born near Belfast. He married Judith Stamper (b. 1648), daughter of Hugh Stamper and Bridget of Lurgan, County Armagh, 1673. This family emigrated from Ireland and settled in Pennsylvania about 1683 on a farm in Upper Providence Township now Delaware County. They had eight children, four born in Lurgan, Ireland, four in Penn- sylvania. Valentine Hollingsworth (b. 1632), son of Henry and Katheran Holling- sworth, was born at Ballyvickcrannell, Parish of Seagoe, County Armagh, Ireland. He married (2) Ann Calvert, daughter of Thomas and Jane Glassford Calvert, at Drumgor in 1672. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Virginia and elsewhere. The Harlan family ancestors, George (b. 1650), Michael and Thomas were sons of James Harlan. George was from Parish of Donnahalong, County Down, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Duck in 1678. Mary Calvert (b. 1687), daughter of John and Judith Stamper Calvert, married John Chenoweth (b. 1682/3) 1705. He was born at St Martins in Menage, Cornwall Co., Wales, and died in Frederick Co., Virginia.
