It is thought by their descendants that James Arrington came to the Blue Ridge not from the Piedmont and Pennsylvania, but direct from Northern Ireland about the time of the revolution. By the early 1700's he and his wife Millie were in upper Buncombe County (now Madison County), North Carolina.
