Fenamidone

Fenamidone is the active ingredient in the end-use product Reason 500 SC Fungicide. Reason 500 SC Fungicide, containing 500 g/L of fenamidone, is a flowable concentrate fungicide to control early and late blight on potatoes. Reason 500 SC Fungicide can be applied with ground or aerial application equipment when it is tank-mixed with Dithane DG or Bravo 500. Current scientific data from the applicant were evaluated to determine if, under the proposed conditions of use, the product has value and does not present an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment.--Document.

  • "Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has concluded that the addition of a new use on bulb vegetables (Crop Group 3) to the product label of Reason 500SC Fungicide, containing technical grade fenamidone, is acceptable. Before registering a pesticide for food use in Canada, the PMRA must determine the quantity of residues that are likely to remain in or on the the food when the pesticide is used according to label directions and that such residues will not pose an unacceptable health risk. This quantity is then legally established as a maximum residue limit (MRL).
