This report describes the teacher educator's search for professional identify; the implications of previous research and development efforts for teachers of speech communication; the use of instructional domains, systems approaches, and behavioral objectives in speech communication instruction; the committee recommendations and rationales arrived at during the Memphis conference; the special-interest caucus summaries and recommendations; and an overview of the accomplishments of the Memphis conference.
