Stattdessen ist vielmehr geboten, philosophische Auseinandersetzungen zu führen, die philologisch fundiert anhand von Sachproblemen philosophische Grundlagen für ein interkulturell orientiertes Philosophieren erarbeiten. - Rolf Elberfeld beleuchtet das Phänomen der Zeit, welches sich als eines der zentralen Themen der Philosophie als Ausgangspunkt für das >unausweichliche Gespräch mit der ostasiatischen Welt< (Heidegger) be-sonders anbietet. Vor allem der Buddhismus hat eine Philosophie der Zeit entwickelt, die in ihrer Reichweite noch längst nicht ausreichend in den Blick getreten ist. - Elberfeld entwickelt in einem ersten Schritt die methodischen Voraussetzungen, um das Phänomen der Zeit im Buddhismus philosophisch zu thematisieren. In einem zweiten Schritt werden Texte zum Zeit-Phänomen von vier Denkern aus Indien, China und Japan diskutiert, wobei vor allem der berühmte Text Uji des Zenbuddhisten Dôgen Satz für Satz erschlossen wird. Im Anschluß werden zentrale Positionen zur Philosophie der Zeit in Europa herangezogen, um die Möglichkeit einer übergreifenden >transformativen Phänomenologie der Zeit< zu entwerfen, in der beide Traditionen auf neue Weise fruchtbar verbunden werden. - Der Autor erhielt für diese Untersuchung den Straniak Philosophie Preis 2001."
