A comedy on a bachelor in London who specializes in affairs with single mothers. To improve his chances, he joins a single parents' association and gets a boy to pretend he is his son.
"This title is also available as a film."
"Will Lightman is a good-lookin, smooth-talking bachelor whose primary goal in life is avoiding any kind of responsibility."

"Will is thirty-six but acts like a teenager. He reads the right magazines, goes to the right clubs and knows which sneakers to wear. He's also discovered a great way to score with women - at single parents' groups, full of available mothers, all waiting for Mr Nice. That's where he meets Marcus, the oldest twelve-year-old in the world. Marcus is a bit strange: he listens to Mozart, looks after his mum and has never even owned a pair of sneakers. Perhaps if Will can teach Marcus how to be a kid, Marcus can help Will grow up."@en
"Thirty-something, unmarried and very cool Londoner, Will Lightman's search for eligible young women leads him to invent a young son so as to join Single Parents Alone Together, a support group for single parents. As he is very proud of his superficiality, it appears at first to be the perfect solution, a place to meet beautiful women with whom he can have brief affairs but who will eventually dump him in favor of someone more suitable. Complications set in when Will meets Marcus, an impossibly uncool, twelve year old. Once Will lets Marcus into his life, he finds that not only is he capable of getting close to another person but it can be a good thing as well."@en
""Will Freeman wants an easy life with no responsibilities. But then he meets Marcus, an unusual twelve-year-old boy with serious problems. About a boy is a modern classic, a very funny story about a very serious subject: love. It's also a popular movie starring Hugh Grant."--Page 4 of cover."

"A box-office smash in England, About a Boy went on to charm the world as another fine adaptation (following High Fidelity) of a popular Nick Hornby novel. While High Fidelity transplanted its London charm to Chicago, this irresistible comedy was directed by Americans Chris and Paul Weitz (American Pie) with its British pedigree intact. Better yet, Hugh Grant is perfectly cast as Will, a self-absorbed trust-fund slacker who tries to improve his romantic odds by preying on desperate single mothers. His cynical strategy backfires when he recruits the misfit son (Nicholas Hoult) of a suicidal mother (Toni Collette) to pose as his own son, thus proving his parental prowess to his latest single-mom target (Rachel Weisz). The kid has a warming effect on this ultimate cad, and what could have been a sappy tearjerker turns into a subtle, frequently hilarious portrait of familial quirks and elevated self-esteem. From start to finish, it's a genuine treat."@en
"'How cool was Will Freeman?' Too cool! At thirty-six, he's as hip as a teenager. He's single, child-free, goes to the right clubs and knows which trainers to wear. He's also found a great way to score with women - attend single parents' groups full of available (and grateful) mothers, all hoping to meet a 'nice guy'."@en
