Natural minimal surfaces via theory and computation
Prof. Hoffman presents the basic analysis and geometry necessary to understand the mathematical study of minimal surfaces and also discusses the computer technologies employed in recent discoveries of families of new examples. He will also present some of the recent applications to the study of block copolymers.
"David Hoffman covers the basic analysis and geometry needed to understand minimal surfaces. He discusses computer techniques used to discover families of examples and some applications to the study of the microstructure of compound materials and block copolymers are also presented. His lecture is illustrated with animated computer graphics."
