Alf Landon was born 9 September 1887 in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, at the home of his Mossman grandfather, Rev. W. H. Mossman. He was the son of John Landon. The family moved to Kansas. He married Miss Margaret Fleming in 1915 and settled in Independence, Kansas. They had a daughter, Peggy Ann, in 1917. Margaret died in 1918. He married Miss Theo Cobb in 1930. He became the governor of Kansas.
