The book of John Howell and his descendants with supplementary accounts of the families related to them by marriage
John Howell I (d.1721), a Quaker widower, emigrated with three children in 1698 from Wales to Philadelphia. John Howell II (d.1765), a grandson of John I and son of Jacob, married Katharine Ladd, and lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before moving to Johnson County, North Carolina and then to Savannah, Georgia. His family returned to Philadelphia before the Civil War, but he remained in the south. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia and elsewhere.
