Life-work of Louis Klopsch romance of a modern knight of mercy

Biography of Louis Klopsch (1852-1910), who immigrated in 1854 with his widowed father, Omar Klopsch, from Germany to New York City. Louis married Mary Merritt in 1886, and they had four children (one girl and three boys). He had a printing and publishing office, from which were published a secular newspaper (Daily Hotel Reporter) and a religious newspaper (The Christian Herald). The latter came to be regarded as the largest Christian newspaper in the world, and had worldwide circulation. Louis Klopsch was not only the editor/ publisher, but he also led tremendous drives to help the poor and afflicted in New York City and elsewhere. He assumed the major financial responsibility for "the Bowery mission," and opened the "Mont-Lawn home" for needy children in New York City. He also helped throughout the world, with aid for Japan, China, Russia, India, Armenia in Turkey, Italy, Finland and Sweden, Cuba, etc.
