Uganda, stolen children abduction and recruitment in northern Uganda

Since 1986, members of the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda have abducted close to 20,000 children, often forcing them to serve as soldiers, laborers, and sexual slaves. Nearly 5,000 children have been abducted since June of 2002. This report is based on field research conducted in February 2003, and includes interviews with eighteen children and a number of religious and civic leaders. Among the reports six primary sections are a summary of the findings, policy recommendations, background material, and documentation of how the children are recruited into the LRA.
