"The area known as the Williamson Road section was a part of Roanoke County for over 100 years; prior to this, of course, the area was part of Botetourt County. From a geographical standpoint the Williamson Road area was part of North Roanoke County. Even though the Williamson Road section was annexed by the City of Roanoke in 1949 the area still identifies with North Roanoke County."--Foreword.
