  • "This book is one in the Children's Activity Series of books to promote awareness about health, family life, and cultural diversity for children in kindergarten through third grade. The books in this series are written to enhance an established curriculum, rather than to serve as the curriculum itself. They offer ideas for hands-on activities for teachers to integrate into the primary-level curriculum. Each activity begins with a statement of the purpose of the activity and a brief description of the activity "in a nutshell." Other activity sections outline any advance preparation needed to conduct the activity, identify items for student use, detail the steps for the process of the activity, list new words used in the activity, and explain how to integrate lessons into language arts, social studies, and other areas of the primary curriculum. Reproducible masters for student activity sheets and teacher patterns are included for each activity.
