Mister Rogers' neighborhood Mister Rogers talks about mistakes. Program 1576

In the NOM, Audrey Duck and Catalion are visiting with Handyman Negri who is arranging King Friday's collection of miniature animals in front of the castle. Audrey Duck goes to visit Henrietta, but she is not at home. X the Owl mistakes Audrey for Henrietta in a duck costume, saying also that she doesn't look like a duck. Audrey's feelings are hurt. X realizes his mistake and sends Audrey a note of apology. Audrey and Catalion visit the school. During an alphabet lesson, Audrey cries when they reach "D is for duck". Audrey receives X's note and recites a short poem that she has made up. The King tells Handyman that the animals are in the wrong place. When Lady Aberlin tells the King about Audrey's poem (which contains mention of Kings and Queens), the King orders a poetry reading party to feature Audrey and her poem. Mr. Rogers talks about making mistakes, apologizing, and remaining friends. He sings "You are special."

  • "Mr. Rogers has difficulty zipping his sweater which reminds him of the time he buttoned his sweater wrong. That segment is shown. He remembers another time when, as a young boy, he was laughed at for buttoning his coat wrong, and says he does not think we should laugh at other peoples mistakes because everyone makes mistakes. He shows a picture book that contains a mistake. Susan Linn brings over the puppets that she uses to help children talk about their feelings."@en
