California's gold. No. 302 a closer look

Huell Howser travels to the sand dunes of El Centro to take a look at what remains of a wooden plank road that once stretched from Imperial County to Yuma, Arizona, and, from 1915-1926, was the only means of crossing the treacherous dunes in an automobile. Howser then attends a reunion of the nation's last cavalry regiments who trained in Camp Lockett (Campo) in San Diego County. Featured is the 10th Unit, a black regiment who carried on the proud tradition of the "Buffalo Soldier."
