The Martin's nest

This story was first published as a serialized novel in Capper's magazine (formerly Capper's Weekly) from May 24, 1988 to December 1988. After her husband's death, Lura Martin wasn't sure how to support her family, until the appearance of a letter from her estranged Uncle Andy. It is a challenge to 'live off the land' on the family farm for one year, and he will turn the property over to her. But if she fails, she relinquishes the farm and any help from Andy. In desperation she moves her family 'home' and starts a new life on a rugged mountainside that has been uninhabitable for years. Can her pride help her in the long months ahead? Will Uncle Andy keep his word? Who is the Shadow Lady?
