James Fitch (1622-1702) was born in Bocking, Essex, England to Thomas and Ann Reve Fitch. His parents were devout Puritans. In 1639 James immigrated to Hartford, Connecticutt. In 1644 he became the first minister of Saybrook. In 1648 James married Abigail Whitfield. They were the parents of six children. Abigail died in 1659 and James married Priscilla Mason. They were the parents of eight children. Descendants live in the United States.
